Connect Telegram and CuliPulse sends every alert as a message from the CuliPulse bot, to your private chat with it or to a team group. It’s free, and the message arrives within seconds of the alert.

  1. Go to Notifications → Add destination → Telegram.
  2. Choose where alerts should go:
    • Just me — alerts land in your private chat with the bot.
    • A team group — everyone in the group sees the alerts.
  3. Click the button CuliPulse shows you. Telegram opens.
    • Just me: press Start.
    • A team group: pick the group. Telegram adds the bot to it.
  4. The bot replies CuliPulse connected and the destination turns to Connected in your list. The page updates on its own, so you don’t need to refresh it.
  5. Send a test alert to check it. See Send a test.
  6. Choose which monitors alert to this destination: all of them, or a specific set.

The destination is named after your Telegram chat or group. You can rename it any time; the name is only for you.

The link in step 3 can be used once, and only for 15 minutes. Open it late, or a second time, and the bot replies:

This link expired. Go back to CuliPulse and press Connect again

CuliPulse shows this before it happens: while you wait, the row and the connect screen say Link expires in N min. Once the time is up, the row reads Link expired (amber) instead of waiting forever. When that happens:

  1. Go to Notifications and press Connect again on that row. (On the connect screen the same button reads Get a new link.)
  2. Choose which monitors it covers and press Continue to get a fresh link.
  3. Open the fresh link and press Start in Telegram within 15 minutes.

You don’t need to remove the old row first.

The bot answers an expired link at most once an hour in each chat, so pressing the same old link again straight away gets no second reply. If you need to start over, use a new link.

Open the ⋯ menu on the Telegram row and choose Send test alert. A test looks like a real alert, but it is always marked: the title starts with TEST and a line says This is a test, nothing is down. It’s about a made-up monitor, so it’s safe to send to a team group. There’s a short wait between tests.

If the test fails, the console tells you it couldn’t send. See If alerts stop arriving.

On Notifications, open the ⋯ menu on the Telegram row:

  • Rename — change the name shown in the console.
  • Alert scope… — choose all monitors or a specific set.
  • Remove — stop sending alerts to this chat. It does not delete the chat or remove the bot from your group; do that in Telegram if you want to.

The switch on the row pauses alerts to this chat without removing it.

To send alerts to a different chat, add a new Telegram destination and remove the old one.

CuliPulse can only message a chat the bot is still allowed to write to. Alerts stop arriving when:

  • You pressed Stop or Block on the bot in your private chat. Telegram then refuses messages from it. Unblock the bot (press Restart if Telegram shows it), then send a test alert.
  • The bot was removed from the group, or the group was deleted. Add the bot back to the group and send a test alert. If the group was turned into a supergroup, its address changes: remove the destination and connect it again.

Telegram only tells CuliPulse the bot was blocked or removed when an alert is actually sent. Until then the row says Connected. After a failed alert, the row turns amber and reads Failing, with a line such as A delivery failed 4 min ago: Telegram says the bot was blocked or removed from this chat. Once you unblock or re-add the bot, press Send test alert: a delivery that goes through clears the note. See Not getting alerts?.
